Presenter Bios

Beth Filar Williams is a regional consultant for the Colorado Library Consortium (CLiC). She is based in Durango and works with the western slope area libraries.  Prior to CLiC, she was a consultant with the Southwest Regional Library Service System in Durango; a Map & GIS Librarian/Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder; and worked as a middle school librarian in Maryland after graduating with her MLS for University of Maryland in 1997. Christopher J.J. Thiry has been the Map Librarian at the Colorado   School of Mines for almost 12 years.  Previously, he worked in the Map   Division of the New York Public Library.  He holds a BA in history and   an MILS from the University of Michigan.  He is the editor of the book Guide to US Map Resources. Geneva Williamson Mixon has experience working in libraries to bring geographic information and maps to the public. She has worked at academic libraries as a map manager and library research assistant (1998-2003). She was awarded her MA in Geography in 2006 and is currently working as a consultant for the Colorado State Libraries and the Bibliographic Center for Research. (Presented on Sanborn Maps)

Katie Lage is the Map Librarian in the Jerry Crail Johnson Earth Sciences and Map Library at CU-Boulder. She is responsible for reference services, collection development, and providing access to digital and print cartographic resources. She graduated with a master of library science from San José State University in California in 2002 and worked in the Map Room at the University of California, Santa Cruz prior to coming to Colorado. Naomi Heiser has been working in map libraries since 1993, first at the University of New Mexico, and now at the University of Colorado, Boulder. (Presented on Map Cataloging)

Laura Wright has been working in libraries since 1995 and has worked in almost every capacity (except serials receiving) since then. Now that she's discovered maps, she's staying put at CU Boulder. (Presented on Map Cataloging)
